ABOUT ABOUT

Over the past decade, Terrence J. Nolen, Producing Artistic Director of Arden Theatre Company, and scenic/video designer Jorge Cousineau have been exploring the intersection of theatre and technology as a way of increasing the intimacy between the work and the audience, most recently during their collaboration on the Arden’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical The Secret Garden. Inspired by the world of paper dolls and popup books, Nolen and Cousineau conceived a turntable revolve outfitted with hand-drawn models of the musical’s various settings that were live projected onto a cream rear-projection screen stretched on a large wooden frame.

In this talk, Nolen and Cousineau recount their experiences together over the years and discuss the evolution of their integration of video and theatre and share lessons they have learned along the way.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. A reception will follow the discussion.
